SIMON Ayeko will be strong favourite to take the National University Sports Federation in Uganda (NUSFU) cross country championships that are due this Saturday at Uganda Martyrs University, Nkozi.
The Kampala International University student, who is currently training with the national team in Kapchorwa, will battle other stars like Ndejje’s Nicholas Kiprono and Nkumba University’s Joseph Nsubuga and Francis Yiga in the one-day event set to start at 9:00am.
According to NUSFU secretary Patrick Ssebuliba, all the 16 NUSFU members have accepted to enter teams in the MTN sponsored event, that will be used to select a national university team to the 23rd World University Games due April 6 in France.
Athletes from Busitema, Busoga, IUIU, Kumi, Gulu, MUST, UCU, Ndejje, Nkumba, Kampala University, KIU, MUBS, Kyambogo, Makerere, Bugema and hosts UMU will compete in the men 12km and women 6km events.
