TODAY is International Women’s Day. This is the day on which we remember all the things that women have done for this world. It is also a day to think about the bad things that happen to women, and find ways to end these bad things.

The United States was the first country to celebrate international women’s day in 1909, when President Yoweri Museveni’s father was still young. Since then, more and more countries started celebrating International Women’s. Now the whole world celebrates International Women’s Day every year on March 8.

Here are some of the things you can do on international women’s day:
- Say thank you to your mum for all the things she does for you every day. Remind dad to do the same.
- Give a small gift to your mum.
- Help your mum with her work at home, whether you are a boy or girl. You can help prepare her lunch and serve her. Since she serves you everyday.

- Pray for her that she will be healthy and live for a long time.
- Tell your mum you love her and give her a big hug.
- Make sure you are extra good today. You do not want to disturb her on this special day. Be on your best behaviour.

- If she dresses up to go out (for example if she is going to town), be sure to tell her that she is smart.

This is a special day so make your mum feel special.
