FORMER Chief Justice Samuel Wako Wambuzi has got a new wife, three years after the death of his wife Gladys. Marion Nakabuye Ddamulira introduced the retired judge to her relative Kawere Ggunju at his residence in Kasubi, a city suburb on Saturday.

Gladys Wambuzi, a former headmistress and founder of Greenhill Academy in Kampala, died of cancer of the thyroid in 2005. Prime Minister Apolo Nsibambi, who also wed again after the death of his wife Rhoda, attended the function.

The wedding is slated for March 28 at Namirembe Cathedral. Among the items the groom-to-be carried were five crates of soda and beer, a box of linens, five boxes of soap, rice, meat, chicken, two head of cattle and an unspecified sum of money.

Wambuzi retired at the age of 70 in 2001, which means he is now 78.
Nakabuye was born to Aloysius Ddamulira and the late Deziranta Nakafeero of Bujuuko.

Wambuzi’s delegation included city tycoon Gordon Wavamunno and wife Maureen, Radio One proprietor, Maria Kiwanuka and Ripples Water proprietor Robert Nsibirwa. Others were Wambuzi’s children William, Marion and Samson Wambuzi.

The hosting team included education minister Namirembe Bitamazire and Buganda elders’ leader Nakirembeka Waliggo.
