THREE employees of Kalibaimukya Micro-Finance, Kakumiro branch in Kibaale district, have been arrested in connection with the robbery of over sh16m from the branch on Tuesday.

The district criminal investigations department officer, Michael Ogwal, identified the suspects as William Mukasa, the branch manager and two cashiers Cosma Wasswa and Augustine Karungi.

Ogwal said the robbers allegedly offered the security guard, Nasura Aruma, soda contaminated with chloroform which made him unconscious until the next morning. The thugs broke the rear entrance and the safe using an axle.

Ogwal said they suspect that an insider could be behind the deal and appealed to the public to help them arrest the criminals.

The micro-finance is a registered savings and credit cooperative organisation.
It has branches in Kagadi and its head office is in Kakindo.
