There is going to be a bad accident at this spot

EDITOR—Two weeks after the Budo tragedy, Ugandans are still mourning the loss of 20 tender lives. They say when you educate a woman, you educate the whole nation! How many ‘nations’ have we lost? The second term will start soon but what has the government and the education ministry in particular put in place to avoid more tragedies?

What are the commissioners doing? Just wasting taxpayers’ money, driving government vehicles full of charcoal and waiting for workshops to claim allowances!

There is yet another disaster looming at Kiri Gaza roundabout.

A petrol station, HA SS, has been built at this roundabout and all the time there is a traffic jam at this place.

Most taxi drivers have turned the petrol station into a terminal for passengers to get off the taxis. This has worsened the jam. Very soon there is going to be a nasty accident at this spot.

I hope the transport ministry, Kampala City Council and the Police have read this letter. But the problem is that in Uganda the authorities do not want to take precautions. We only respond when a tragedy has already occurred!
