Drama ensued in Mityana Magistrate’s Court when a suspect undressed himself before the proceedings started. Francis Batesaaki, who was accused of malicious damage and being in possession of narcotic drugs, was appearing before the Grade One Magistrate, Michael Lagala, on Friday.

Prosecution said he committed the offences on May 30 at Kitongo in Butayunja sub-county, Mityana district.

Prison wardens tried to force Batesaaki to dress up in vain.

He was handcuffed and forced into the dock.

“You are not the first person to behave like that, but undressing will not save you,” Lagala said.

Batesaaki, who was remanded in Ssaza Prison, pleaded guilty to the charges and asked for a fair sentence.

In a related development, the same court remanded a 41-year-old man in Ssaza Prison for being in possession of narcotic drugs.

Kamadi Lubega of Kitongo in Butayunja was remanded until June 20.
