FORMER national champion Ronald Ssebuguzi will open the way for a largely feeble field in this weekend’s Jomayi MOSAC rally.

Ssebuguzi has put behind him mechanical problems that have dogged his Mitsubishi Evo4 in the previous two outings in the Pearl and Mbarara rallies. He now hopes to get back into contention for the 2008 National Rally Championship.

“I definitely wouldn’t worry about anybody chasing. My only problem is the traffic in the competitive sections. My car is in good condition now, so I pray that luck is on my side this time,” Ssebuguzi stated.

The Jomayi Property Consultants-sponsored driver will be chased by Bob Roberts, who will be navigated by new co-driver Justin Mungoma in a Mitsubishi Evo 4.

Susan ‘Super Lady' Muwonge, Black Widow, Rose Lwakataka and national championship leader Ahmed Ashraf will take off third, fourth, fifth and sixth in that order.

The Jomayi female crew of Laila Mayanja and Noella Margachi in a Mitsubishi Evo4 will hit the road seventh.

The fourth of six NRC events has attracted 18 drivers. The race will start with a 10.2km super special stage at Nalugala Jomayi Beach tomorrow, ahead of the 264.7km second leg in Wakiso on Sunday.

The second leg will cover 216km, broken down into 15 sections in Kira, Gayaza and part of Mukono district.

The main viewing will be at Jomayi’s Nabusugwe Housing Estates, where cars will pass four times.
