MUKONO-In an effort to fight corruption, the district Police commander, Elisam Mugisha, has started holding meetings with residents and encouraging them to report corrupt Police officers. The residents are also sensitised on how to coordinate with security officers to curb crime. Last Wednesday, Mugisha met residents of Kingobe, Bugoba and Bugala zones in Seeta town, where many complaints were raised against Police officers. Aisha Nakanwagi, a resident of Seeta, said she had bought beer for Police officers at Lugazi in order to secure bail. Mugisha promised to attend to the complaints.

Man lynched by mob
KAYUNGA-Angry residents of Bulawula village in Wabwoko sub-county on Friday killed a man suspected to have murdered his wife. The district Police commander, John Arinaitwe, said a drunk Kuziru Ssekizibu, 29, hacked his wife, Prossy Namutebi, 25, whom he found eating mangoes at a neighbour’s home. Ssekiziyivu took off to the nearby forest but residents armed with clubs mounted a search for him. Neighbours said the couple had stayed together for only two months but Ssekizibu had been heard warning his wife against interacting with neighbours. Arinaitwe said the Police had contacted Namutebi’s relatives in Wakiso to pick her body from Kayunga Hospital.
