A CHAPATI vendor and a housewife were on Monday handed sh100,000 each, as cash prizes in an on-going promotion by Bukedde FM.

Anderson Lubega, who sells chapati in Zirobwe, and Nalwanga Sylvia, a housewife in Nkele Zone, Makindye, could not hide their joy after receiving the money from the station presenter, Katongole Omutongole.

Lubega said he had been listening to the station for the last two months.

“I was at work when I got the call. When I responded, ‘Bukedde Fa Ma, Embuutikizi,’ I was told to pick sh100,000,” an excited Lubega said.

Lubega said he would use the money to boost his business as well as buy windows for his unfinished house.

He said the station was the first to broadcast in Luganda with a clear signal in Zirobwe, Luweero.

Sylvia Nalwanga, a mother of three, said since the promotion began, she had ceased saying “hello” while receiving calls.

To win in the promotion, one has to answer a call from the radio’s presenters with the phrase: “Bukedde Fa Ma, Embutikizi.”

Nalwanga said she would use her prize to pay school fees for her children.

Promotions Manager Kevin Masaba said between 7:15am and 5:25pm daily, listeners would get an opportunity to win sh500,000.

Masaba added that sh4.5m had been given out, with over sh7m still waiting to be won.
