Draughts team off to Beijing - Uganda Draughts Association (UDA) is to field four players in the first World Mind Games due in Beijing, China this week. The team led by National Council of Sports (NCS) member, Julius Zziwa, left yesterday. The quartet of Dan Isabirye, Frank Zziwa, Ahmed Kayonga and Frederick Kamara was flagged off by NCS general secretary Jasper Aligawesa at Lugogo. The championship that also involve chess and bridge runs Oct. 3-19.
Bugembe due for inspection - The local football federation, FUFA, is to inspect Bugembe Stadium to ascertain whether it meets international standards after Victors FC registered it as their home ground for the CAF Confederations Cup next season. Victors, who are the Kakungulu Cup holders, will play in the continental event and hope to use Bugembe for their continental engagements. They use Kakindu for their league fixtures.
