Makerere University legal adviser Goddy Muhumuza was on Wednesday charged with six counts of forgery before the Buganda Road Court in Kampala.

The court presided over by Chief Magistrate Vincent Mugabo heard that in September 2006 Muhumuza forged the powers of attorney of his former wife Kembabazi to sell a piece of land on Plot 60 Church Road in Entebbe.

Muhumuza was also accused of obtaining powers from Lwakafuzi and Co. Advocates to sell the family house.

Court also heard that Muhumuza signed a sales agreement on behalf of his former wife, saying she had consented to the sale.

The charge sheet also said Muhumuza signed land transfer forms on her behalf.

He denied the charges.

Muhumuza is also being investigated over impersonation.

The Police spokesperson, Judith Nabakooba, explained that Muhumuza joined Nakawa business school in 1987 using documents of his former classmate, Joab Kambwene Yebazibwe. If he is found guilty, his qualification will be cancelled, she said.
