WORLD 3000m steeplechase champion Dorcus Inzikuru and former world youth gold medallist Catherine Webombesa are to clash in the senior women MTN National cross country championships.
The last time the two faced each other was in the road running championship in Iganga last year. Inzikuru won the event, with Webombesa finishing third.
But that was over the 20km distance which required endurance. this time the competition will be over 8km, which requires speed and technique in an event that has attracted 31 athletes.
The venue – Webombesa’s home – will remind her of 1998 when she beat elite athletes to gold in the world youth championships in Moscow.
Apart from Inzikuru and Webombesa, there are Christine Muneria, Jane Suuto and Annet Chelangat to watch out for.
