BLIND persons in Masindi have been given a grant of over sh110m by Sight Savers, a charity.

Ben Male, the country chief, on Tuesday said the money would be used to buy drugs, cover training for selected blind persons, health workers, traditional healers, community leaders and parents on how to care for the blind.
Male explained that the activities would be done over one year.

He added that the package would see four primary school teachers being assisted to study diplomas in special needs education at Kyambogo University, while another 100 would be sensitised.

Male noted that they would also commemorate the international Sight and White Cane days. These highlight the plight of the blind among the public.
