PASKAR Owor won the 800m event with ease as athletes from eastern Uganda dominated the middle and short distances at the second athletics trials here Saturday.
Owor, running for Arua Athletics Club, clocked a slow time of one minute 58.4 to win the race of the track and field trials’ event sponsored by MTN Uganda.
Tororo club’s Stephen Odwar was the other athlete from eastern to win a race, beating Arua’s Ali Ngaimuko to the 100m event.
Samuel Egadu from the same club also won the 200m and Kakira’s Waisswa Lukungu, though looking rusty, won the 400m race.
“I have been suffering from fever and that is why my performance has not been that good. I will be working on my speed,†said Lukungu.
KIU’s Emily Nanziri and Annet Kabasindi with Prison’s Adero Nyakisi took doubles in the women competition.
