THE Vice-President, Prof. Gilbert Bukenya, has urged the Kyabazinga of Busoga to support government efforts to fight poverty using high-quality dairy cows that produce milk for sale.

Bukenya donated a dairy cow to Henry Wako Muloki as a symbol of his poverty alleviation campaign in Busoga.

He was on Monday paying a courtesy call on Muloki at his palace at Nakabango in Jinja.

It was the first time for Bukenya to visit the palace since he became Vice-President. According to a press release from his office, Bukenya commended the Kyabazinga for supporting government programmes in the area.

He said Busoga region is a strategic area because it is closer to the markets in Kampala and the neighbouring countries in the east. Muloki vowed to give the Government all the necessary support in carrying out its development programmes for the benefit of the people.

Katukiro Martin Musumba commended the Government for the support rendered to cultural institutions, saying it demonstrates the state’s good will and intention to them. “People without a culture are dead because they lack identity. You identify people by name and behaviour.”
