SIR — The last one week has seen Kampala city embroiled in demonstrations that left people dead. I could not believe it when I saw Col Kizza Besigye on WBS fighting policemen at Christ the King Church!

With all due respect, Besigye and his group ought to know that that is not the best way to engage the government if they must take power in the next election.
I am a member of the NRM and l do not support the Mabira giveaway for sugarcane growing just like many other right- thinking Ugandans. We can engage the government in a more civil manner than how Besigye and his supporters demonstrated on Tuesday.
Yoweri Museveni started fighting for power when he was still a student up to 1986 when he took over. I do not recall anywhere when he physically engaged the police or any other authority like Besigye did on Tuesday when he almost beat up policemen!
There are so many other party presidents like Ssebaana Kizito, Miria Kalule Obote, Kibirige Mayanja, Ken Lukyamuzi, Bidandi Ssali and others. How come it is only Besigye who is violent all the time? Is he more concerned for this country than the rest?
