THE First Lady and Ruhama county Member of Parliament Janet Museveni on Tuesday toured Protea Hotel at Bwebajja on the Kampala–Entebbe Highway.

The over $100m investment is owned by Joseph and Goodra Behakanira, the owners of Avemer Shopping Centre on Luwum Street, Kampala.

The hotel, built on a 160-acres of land, took the First Lady three hours to tour. She applauded the proprietors for the exemplary work which she said will benefit all people regardless of their colour, religion and political affiliations.

Janet was impressed that the multi-billion shilling complex is owned by Ugandans. “I am really impressed by the level of investment. This is good.

“This is great. Do Ugandans know what is taking place here. “Do people in the Government and outside take trouble to come here and see for themselves,” she asked.

“Let this be a challenge to all of us. We should continue supporting our own people to develop our nation,” she added.

The hotel has 24 presidential suites, cottages, a 10,000-capacity-seating conference hall, a business centre, a huge shopping mall, and an airfield.
