Health state minister Mike Mukula has urged residents of Tororo to vote for President Yoweri Museveni so that he continues to develop the country.
Speaking on Friday in a mixture of English and Luganda, Mukula said the NRM was the only post-independence government that had abolished graduated tax and brought social services nearer to people.
“Now the Government does not take a single shilling from you. Over the past five years, the NRM government has managed to build 868 health centres, while past governments built only 22 hospitals. Then you come and say Museveni agende. Agende, gwe wamuleta?” (Museveni should leave power. Leave power? Are you the ones who brought him?) Mukula asked.
He was addressing residents of Tororo county at Mukuju sub-county headquarters during an intercessory meeting called to resolve a dispute over the Tororo district status.
Mukula said the government had given Tororo county district status but was waiting to draw its borders.
He urged residents not to vote for FDC’s Kizza Besigye and his cronies, saying they were disgruntled Movementists and would not bring any change in the country.
Mukula also advised Tororo County residents to vote out FDC stalwart and incumbent MP Geoffrey Ekanya.
He said though Ekanya was a good politician, he could not bring development to the county.
