SIR — The NRM secretariat is closing down on February 23. Thereafter, all the staff, including the National Political Commissar (NPC), Dr Crispus Kiyonga will be rendered jobless.
This made me wonder whether the Movement and particularly the Secretary General of the NRM, Mr. Amama Mbabazi was aware of this programme when he decided to contest for the position against the NPC.
Kiyonga, my area MP, will now be left floating with a ministry without portfolio, without a budget! We are scared that voting for him might be a waste of time since the party he helped to found is displacing him from every position.
I appeal to the appointing authority to have mercy on our good MP and give him a consolation appointment! I am not satisfied by Kiyonga’s explanation that it was democratic for him to lose to Mbabazi when he actually skipped the announcement of the results and rushed to Bwera to probably contain the loss.

SIR — I am surprised that
the staff at the NRM Secretariat don’t want the vehicles they have been driving to be sold off when the secretariat winds up. This shows the exploitative nature of politicians.
Please, have mercy on Kiyonga
