THE Electoral commission (EC) has reached a decision on the symbols to be used by Kampala mayoral candidates Nasser Ntege sebaggala and Hasib Takuba Kabuye.

EC secretary Sam Rwakoojo on Monday said Takuba was free to use the Democratic Party symbol since he was a member. Takuba’s symbol is a hoe and a green handle, while Sebaggala’s is a fist.
Rwakoojo said according to a letter from the party president, John Ssebaana Kizito, Sebaggala was not an official candidate.

Peter Sematimba’s symbol is a radio, Senseko Kulubya chose a watch, Naiga Serwanga a chair, while NRM candidate Wilson Kyambadde chose a thumb.

Sebaggala said it was unfortunate that presidential candidate and DP president Ssebaana was losing the support of party members in Kampala.

“Controversial statements from the party president have created controversy in the party,” Sebaggala said.
