JOSEPH Nsubuga ran his second best marathon time in the AmBank Kuala Lumpar International marathon where he again finished third over all after clocking two hours 23 minutes and 20 seconds.
The Uganda Peoples Defence Force (UPDF) athlete, who finished third in last year’s race failed to improve on his position but at least managed to run his second best time. He failed to beat the 2:18:21 which he ran in the 2004 MTN Kampala International marathon.
The position saw the Ugandan athlete win sh4.94m during his second appearance in the race.
UPDF made a last minute dash-in to save the star, whose travel was threatened after the South African High Commission demanded $700 deposit for a transit visa.
It was Nsubuga’s fifth marathon after wins in Kampala in 2004, Kigali (2005) and finishing 18th in the Standard Bank Singapore Greatest Race on Earth marathon leg.
