WaterAid, a UK charity providing water and improving sanitation in the developing world, has earmarked 700,000 Euros (sh1.5b) for the construction of Mengo-Kisenyi sewage line, reports Dan nSalasatta.

WaterAid country representative John Odolon said the organisation made the commitment to mark its silver jubilee this year. The decision follows a survey carried out by the organisation in the outskirts of Kampala.

The organisation realised that residents had no access to safe water and littered faeces anywhere, including water trenches, because they had no latrines.

Odolon said the sewage line would prevent dysentery and cholera.
