NAGONGERA town council in Tororo district is set to get tap water that will benefit over 30,000 people.
The West Budama North MP-elect, William Okecho, said in an interview on Tuesday that the sh700m project to be funded by the Directorate of Water Development kicks off next week.
He said, “last week we leased the land where the tank will be placed. We are handing over the site for project works next week.â€
Okecho said, “Following the elevation of Nagongera to a town council, many people, especially investors are beginning to flock there and I want to ensure that the people have access to clean and safe water.â€
He said the water would be pumped from boreholes and stored in tanks, to be distributed over a radius of 20km. He said he had set up a committee of political leaders and councillors to decide how best to use the sh10m constituency development fund.
