THE 26 Mulago Paramedical Training School students who were recently suspended, will have to re-register.
“You have lost your registration at this institution. You will have to re-apply for admission and register for exams on arrival,” the chairperson of the school governing council, Specioza Mbabali, said in a letter to each of the 26 students.
Mbabali issued the students with letters terminating their registration as a result of their participation in the strike in which school property was damaged.
The students, who are required to sign declaration forms on arrival, have also lost the hostel accommodation.
Mbabali said the students had been suspended until the end of the 2006/7 academic year first semester examinations (at the end of February 2007).
The 26 are required to report with guardians, pay sh20,000 for damages and sh90,000 for meals, in the case of non-residents.
The school that closed in mid-February following a strike over poor meals and living conditions, re-opened last Monday.
The other students who did not take part in the strike also reported with their parents/guardians.
