FORMER Police coach Asuman Lubowa will take over as SC Villa coach at the end of the CECAFA Club Campionship. Club secretary Edward Mugalu Luyimbazi confirmed yesterday that Lubowa would guide the team at the CECAFA championships, but would only take over after they return.

“We asked Lubowa to be our leader of delegation to assist our technical bench in Dar. He will start his task officially after CECAFA ends,” Luyimbazi said.

* POLICE FC skipper Mike Sserumaga rejoined the Police camp yesterday in time to travel for the regional club championship that kicks-off in Dar es Salaam and Morogoro on Friday.

Sserumaga replaced Ibrahim Kyagulannyi on the team that left by road for Tanzania.

Sserumaga, who had not been in camp because of illness (malaria), will spearhead Police’s attempt to add the CECAFA title to their Super League triumph. The team will spend two days on the way, and will have only a day’s rest before taking on Rwanda’s APR.

NCS chief youth scouting coach Mike Mutebi believes the youthful talent gathered from the just concluded Coca Cola Schools championship will sufficiently strengthen the 2008 Olympics squad.

“I strongly believe the foundation for the Olympics team is here,” Mutebi disclosed.

From an assembly of 104 student players, 25 players were selected for a training camp in Masindi to form the U-23 Olympic Games team.
