ALL National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) clients will pay their bills from banks beginning next financial year (June), the managing director of NWSC has said.

Dr. William Muhairwe said the move aimed at providing better services.
Muhairwe and the managing director of Crane Bank, A.R. Kalan, signed the Direct Debit Agreement, which permits NWSC customers to pay water bills at Crane Bank.

The agreement was signed at Crane Chambers in Kampala, recently.
He said other banks customers can use to clear their water bills are: Nile, Stanbic, Orient, Barclays and Standard Chartered.

“The public wants better services. If your salaries go through banks and your water bill is sh25,000, why should you walk all the way to NWSC’s offices to clear it? ” Muhairwe asked.

He said, “If your monthly bill is usually sh30,000, we shall always send it to the bank because you know how much the bank will deduct from your money/salary. If your bill exceeds sh30,000 by 25%, NWSC will not forward the bill to the bank. You will have to come and clear with NWSC.”
