RUNAWAY striker Augustine Nsumba feels helping SC Villa to a domestic double this season is the only way the club’s faithful will forgive him for his AWOL conduct last year.
In his attempt to look for greener pastures last season, Nsumba disappeared from Villa Park to Rwanda at a time his club desperately needed his services. His move denied a depleted Villa side the title then, eventually won by Police.
The 19-year-old forward, has however since returned to the club, and after putting up an inspiring performance with a goal in Villa’s 2-0 win over Maji on Wednesday, he said: “I promise I will never run away again. I have learnt from my bad experiences and I am ready to do everything for the club. A double will do.”
Nsumba, who did not make the club’s squad for the just concluded CECAFA championship in Tanzania, will be a key figure behind coach Asuman Lubowa’s plans of trying to revive the all-time league winners’ faltering campaign. Villa is placed eighth on the table with just 25 points gathered from 15 games.
“I promise to continue scoring goals for the club,” Nsumba, who thrives as a link player behind the main striker added.

  • DISABLED Japanese-born striker Yutaka Ajhara (inset) secured cult status at Masaka LC after just his first exciting league performance for side.
Ajhara, who joined the upcountry soccer outfit from giants KCC FC in April, ripped through the hearts of Masaka faithful against URA FC on Wednesday with his superb dribbling and crossing skills. The player could not however last the first half and was substituted. URA won the Super League tie 1-0.
His body language confirmed the forward had finally prevailed over the torment of losing his valuable cell-phone during his first training session while still at KCC.
Ajhara formerly turned out for Bangladesh side Dipali FC.
