A legal battle for the Samia Bugwe North MP seat might cost Stephen Wasike Mugeni sh180m.

After the High Court ordered Mugeni (left) to pay over sh90m to Aggrey Awori, who won an election petition against him recently, he is now confronted by another over sh90m as legal fees by his lawyers.

Lawyers Joseph Kiryowa and Fred Makada have requested the court to tax their cost of sh92,690,000.

They said after rendering legal services to Mugeni in the main petition in three successful applications, which saw him getting sworn in as MP after a temporary injunction to stop him from taking oath was set aside, he failed to pay them despite repeated demands, which has made them suffer financial loss.

Kiryowa swore an affidavit in support, saying Mugeni instructed them on April 20 to represent him in the petition and committed himself to meet their legal fees.
