Kyeyo girl grabs Masindi Town

She is not 30 yet but owns a fortune. Pross Kirumira, is a kyeyo girl who came back to Masindi and put up a building worth over sh200 million. Pross is one of three children born to Kirumira and Annet Kindiki.

She is not 30 yet but owns a fortune. Pross Kirumira, is a kyeyo girl who came back to Masindi and put up a building worth over sh200 million. Pross is one of three children born to Kirumira and Annet Kindiki.

Kirumira, a Muganda man abandoned Kindiki with their very young children. Pross the eldest girl studied only up to senior three and dropped out due to lack of school fees. Her first job was a saloon attendant in Kampala. Later, a friend took her to the United Arab Emirates to work in a saloon in Dubai and was able to connect to the United Kingdom. All this happened between 1995 and 2002. In UK, she did many odd jobs to earn and save her money.

Prosy is one of Uganda’s kyeyo success stories who brought money home. Recent figures show that emigrant remittance to Uganda is sh1.5b per year. For Prosy, her money must go to Masindi. “I want to show people that Banyoro are not lazy. She is set to devote her money and time to community development.
