FIVE bus companies have declined to relocate to the terminal at Natetee.

They said they had invested close to sh2b in constructing another terminal in Kisenyi, Kampala.

Gateway Bus Services Ltd, Perfect Coaches, Savana Transporters, Swift Safaris and S.B transporters jointly set up a bus terminal, after they were evicted from Buganda Bus park.

Last week, Kampala City Council (KCC) directed all buses to stop at the Nateete terminal, to decongest the city. The terminal is owned by businessman Louis Ntare.

During a press conference in Kisenyi yesterday, the owners criticised KCC for failing the investment. The terminal was to be opened in two weeks.

An earlier communication signed by the senior principal assistant town clerk, Kampala Central Division, allowed the developers to set up the terminal. The developers submitted their plans and paid sh3.3m.

“It is unfair for KCC to direct us to move to Natete. They should have given us notice, to decide whether go to Nateete or acquire land,” Abdi Hussein of Gateway buses said.
