Until last Tuesday, David Kiganda was just one of the numerous pastors in Kampala when newspapers carried the proceedings and confessions of a public divorce intention after an alleged adulterous affair that involved the pastor’s wife.
About twenty years ago, David Kiganda Isa was a very simple man who struggled hard to earn a living.
Kiganda was born on August 17 1964, to Late Richard Kalido Ssemaganda and Mrs, Restytutah Nampijja Ssemaganda in Nyendo, Masaka District. He has been married for the last 19 years to Miriam Hadijah Nassejje Kiganda (a former Muslim). They have with five children.
According to his website www.christianityfocuscentre.org, David Kiganda got born-again in July 1987, under the preaching efforts and leadership of the Late Apostle Deogracious John Balabyekkubo and Dr. Joseph Sserwadda both then pastors of Victory Christian Centre, Kibuye Kampala.
After serving in his mother church for some years and attending various Bible training programs, conferences and seminars, he started the Christianity Focus Ministries in 1990 with a vision of planting and empowering churches, advocating and agitating for the five-fold ministries to take roots in the church as it is written in the Bible book of Ephesians 4:12.
In an interview with the Sunday Vision in August, Kiganda confessed to have searched for a long time for a religion that could touch him.
Raised a Catholic, he considered venturing into Islam and the Protestant church.
“Every evening, my friends and I would go to Nakivubo and and listen to Christians and Muslims debating,” Kiganda said.
“Every evening our group would get saved to excite the pastors, because it would look embarrassing for them to preach for hours and fail to get anyone saved,” he said. (Alive, August 5, 2006)
