UGANDA Cricket Association will need to improve all departments of the national squad before the US tour in April 2007.

Justine Ligyalingi, the National Council of Sports assistant general secretary beckoned the local association to take all build-up games seriously.

Uganda was recently whitewashed by Kenya in three one-day international friendly matches and a three-day tie at Lugogo.

“It is very important for Uganda to present excellent squads for such big tournaments and UCA should start early preparations for good results ahead,” Ligyalingi stated.

Uganda was relegated from the Division One after finishing last (12th) at the ICC World Cup qualifiers in Ireland 2005.

Uganda lost automatic qualification for the ICC trophy and has to compete at the Division Two level to make it back.

Only two countries from the US tournament would get a passport back to Division One to compete for places at the 2011 World Cup.

A poor show at California would mean a reduction in Uganda’s ICC administration grant and relegation to Division Three to play Tanzania, Nigeria, Botswana, Malawi and Zambia.
