SOCCER governing body FUFA has cleared three She Kobs players for semi-professional careers at Cape Town Pirates FC in South Africa.

Former Kampala United women FC players Robinah Nakintu, Doreen Apolot and Rebecca Nakatte become the first set of women players to turn professional in Ugandan soccer history.

“We congratulate the trio for the achievement. They passed their trials very well and will start their career at the beginning of the season,” said FUFA publicist Rogers Mulindwa.

The women’s national team players join their Cranes counterparts David Obua of Kaiser Chiefs, Dan Obote (Vasco Da Gama), Denis Onyango (SuperSport), Posnet Omwony and Timothy Batabaire (Celtic) plying their trade in South Africa.

  • Soccer’s world governing body FIFA on Tuesday threw its weight behind 2010 World Cup hosts South Africa, saying it had no fears that crime and infrastructure constraints would derail the tournament.
