THE Ateso weekly newspaper, Etop has been hailed as a credible partner in pacifying insurgencies and promoting development in Teso.
Soroti resident district commissioner Musa Ecweru and the district LC5 boss, Capt. John Emily Otekat, said this at the paper’s end-of-year party at Etop office premises on Thursday.
Ecweru said Etop, New Vision’s sister paper, helped the government to fight the LRA rebels in the region.
He said Etop helped to end the Uganda Peoples’ Army rebel war in the area by informing masses about the conflict and exposing the events.
Otekat praised the paper’s editor, Kenneth Oluka, saying he was a professional editor who always upheld the journalism ethics.
Oluka awarded certificates to best-performing writers including former Kumi LC5 chief Al Hajji Umar Okodel.
