Iremangoma Charles Wesley Mumbere has vowed to fight for the recognition of the Bukonzo/ Bamba Obusinga (kingdom) till he dies

Iremangoma Charles Wesley Mumbere has vowed to fight for the recognition of the Bukonzo/ Bamba Obusinga (kingdom) till he dies, writes John Thawite.

“I hear some people saying that they will fight the Obusinga until they die. I want to assure them that I will also die while fighting for the Obusinga,” he said.

Mumbere was addressing more than 15,000 people who turned up to welcome him at Nyakasanga stadium in Kasese on Tuesday. He returned from the US recently.

The National Political commissar, Dr. Crispus Kiyonga, recently said he would fight Mumbere and the Obusinga until he dies.

Mumbere told the crowd that braved the scorching sun to have a glimpse of him to remain calm.

Several government security chiefs attended the function. MPs Kule Muranga (Busongora North), Christopher Kibanzanga (Busongora South), Loice Bwambale (Women) and Rogers Maate (Ntoroko) also attended. Kiyonga did not attend.

Mumbere said he would lobby for a “true Mukonzo” to be appointed to the Cabinet.

“The reason our interests are being stifled is because we have no true Mukonzo on Museveni’s cabinet,” he said, drawing deafening cheers from the crowd.

Kiyonga, the Bukonzo west MP, is a minister without portfolio.
