THE Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) executive coordinator, Sam Njuba, has said he could take on President Yoweri Museveni in 2006.

“Am I not fit for president? We need another president. Out of all the 24 million Ugandans, if we fail to get a person to contest against him, I am ready to take him on,” Njuba told an FDC rally at Ndeeba, a Kampala suburb on Tuesday.

He said term limits were endorsed because the Constituency Assembly identified Africa’s biggest problem as leaders who wanted to stay in power for long.

“When we put the two- term limit in the constitution, Museveni never opposed it. What he disagreed on was land. Why, suddenly, is he changing goal posts? He is simply becoming a dictator,” Njuba said.

“Museveni should see the way to his Rwakitura home and if he fails, we shall show it to him. Museveni is no longer popular. If he is popular why is he bribing MPs?” he asked.
