IGANGA — Former Buikwe West MP Anthony Kanyike has accused his successor of incompetence and vowed to unseat her come 2006. Kanyike, who starred in the sixth Parliament as chairperson of the agriculture committee that probed the sh2.5b valley dams saga, lost to Eron Nantume. “I will stand on the NRM party ticket to unseat the non-performing incumbent MP,” Kanyike said on Wednesday.

FDC boost
KAYUNGA — The Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) registered at least 1,500 people on Monday. The district FDC general secretary, Fred Muzaale Ssalongo, said of the 1,500 who registered, 400 had defected from the Movement and 50 were civil servants. The new members received FDC membership certificates for identification, he said.

IDPs turn up
LIRA — The voter registration update in internally displaced people’s camps has received a big turn-up, an official has said. Charles Okwir, a mobiliser with the Uganda Project for implementation and Management Centre, an NGO overseeing the exercise, said the turn up was “overwhelming.”
