INTERNALLY displaced people’s (IDP) camps are to be reorganised to provide walkways and fire fighting equipment, the disaster preparedness state minister has said.

Christine Aporu was speaking during the launch of the IDP policy at GUSCO peace centre in Gulu on Thursday.

She said the camps would neither be dismantled nor the IDPs sent back to their homes.

Aporu appealed for support from stakeholders to improve the IDPs’ living conditions.

She warned against politicisation of the IDPs plight, saying team spirit was needed to address the problems in the camps.

UNDP resident representative Dauda Toure and Gulu LC5 chairman Walter Ochora attended.
