By James Odomel CENTENARY Rural Development Bank (CERUDEB) has opened a branch in Kyenjojo district. Launching the new branch recently, state communication minister, Tom Butime, said the district lacked a financial service provider since the sale of Uganda Commercial Bank. “Kyenjojo businesspeople have been risking their money by travelling to distant banks. CERUDEB has come at the right time,†Butime said. He said the bank would improve people’s standards of living through provision of loans. CERUDEB’s board chairman, Prof. Ssentamu Ddumba, said with the new branch, customers would receive, send and withdraw money at any of their branches nationwide. “CERUDEB mobilises funds mostly through savings from the rural fork who form the bulk of our depositors. Savings accounts are opened at sh10,000, while sh100,000 is required for current accounts,â€Ddumba said. Ends
