A total of 16 centre referees and their assistants have been selected to handle the super league starting on June 10.

Catherine Adipo, chairperson of the referees’ sub committee of the FUFA normalisation committee yesterday said the referees would first attend a refresher seminar on June 4 at Makerere. The seminar will be preceded by a Cooper test.
“I assure you that we are going to have the highest level of officiation during the tournament,” Adipo promised.

The Kavuma Kabenge competitions sub-committee asked Uganda Football Referees Association (UFRA) to recommend referees who would handle the league.

On match allowances, an issue that has always brought controversy between the league committee and referees, Adipo said they will meet this week to agree on the modality of payment.

“We shall make sure that we are not indebted to them after matches,” Adipo said. She however added that they were staying the outstanding allowances accruing from the past season because “FUFA does not have money now.”
