THE long-standing feud between local artistes Jose Chameleone and Bobi Wine escalated into violence yesterday as Bebe Cool was slashed with a knife when he tried to break up a fight between the two.

THE long-standing feud between local artistes Jose Chameleone and Bobi Wine escalated into violence yesterday as Bebe Cool was slashed with a knife when he tried to break up a fight between the two.
Bebe Cool was rushed to Mayo Clinic on Bombo Road in a coma, following the nasty 2:30am incident that erupted inside Ange Noir discotheque and spilled outside.
A fracas had erupted between Chameleone, a two-time PAM award winner, and Bobi Wine who escaped in his car.
Chameleone and Bobi Wine denied starting the fight and blamed each other instead. Chameleone told a press conference yesterday, that he fought with Bobi Wine, but said Bebe Cool was not near the scene of the fight. He said the accusations were intended to bring him down.
In an early morning
interview with Capital FM, Chameleone blamed Bobi Wine, whom he said started it all.
“I went to Ange Noir just as is my Thursday night routine. I walked to the pool table to play with friends. After many games, I lost. As I walked away, I met Bobi Wine in the corridor and he pushed me,†he said.
“I asked him Bobi Wine Lwaki onsukuma, silina mutawana nawe (why are you pushing me? I have no problem with you). He boxed me. I wish you could see my jaw: it is swollen,†Chameleone added.
In a separate interview with Capital FM, Bobi Wine said he was attacked by Chameleone and his group.
“I was too strong for them. I fought my way out and when I saw them holding knives I escaped into my car.
“When Bebe Cool came to rescue me I thought they would not harm him. I reversed a little only to look back and Bebe Cool was lying down. He was unconscious. He had a big stab in his chest and a cut in his neck. He is in a coma at Mayo Clinic.â€
But in another interview, Bobi Wine said, “My song, Wendi, was playing and Chameleone told people I was a piece of scrap. He tried to punch me but I guarded myself. He cried saying I had beaten him. I called bouncers and went outside to my car.â€
He said he found Chameleone had inscribed the words “f**k you†with a nail on his new Land Cruiser.
He said Bebe Cool tried to intervene but Chameleone and group punched and stabbed him.
Bebe Cool, whose real name is Moses Ssali, said he was feeling better. “I am now quite well but I still feel pain in the chest,†he said.
His wife, Zuena, was at his bedside receiving flowers and messages of sympathy from fans.
As she helped him change into a new T-shirt, a slash from a knife that cut across his chest could be seen.
Kampala Police chief Benson Oyo Nyeko said investigations had been launched. “Investigations will have to go deep,†he said. Last year, the three artistes were quizzed by Police over the beating of Makerere University Dean of Students John Ekudu.
