LOCAL artiste Jose Chameleone yesterday returned from his European tour and presented himself to the Police, to avert an impending arrest.
The star, who, for two consecutive years has won the coveted PAM Awards and has several regional accolades to his name, was escorted to the Central Police Station (CPS) by a crowd of ecstatic fans who hoisted him shoulder-high.
His arrival at CPS from Denmark, where he staged various shows, briefly interrupted traffic on Kampala Road and paralysed business at the station.
The fans pitched outside the station but were later dispersed by the Police.
Chameleone was interrogated by detectives for about two hours. He recorded a statement and was released on Police bond, which was extended to August 10.
Last month, the Police threatened to arrest the artiste for jumping bond and failing to record a statement following a fracas with fellow artistes Bebe Cool and Bobi Wine at AngeNoir disco-theque.
Dressed in Blue jeans, a green T-shirt and dark blue boots, Chameleone was accompanied by his brother Weasel and lawyer Paul Rutisya.
Rutisya said they wanted the bond extended to allow Chameleone travel to Tanzania yesterday.
