OYAM South MP Okullo Epak has dismissed reports that he is planning to retire from active politics next year

OYAM South MP Okullo Epak has dismissed reports that he is planning to retire from active politics next year, reports Hamis Kaheru.

He said senior presidential assistant on political affairs Moses Byaruhanga was among people who had approached him about the reports.

“I asked Byaruhanga jokingly why he was interested in my retirement and not that of President Museveni. I said I would retire if Museveni retired,” he said.

Epak said he had been in politics for 10 years compared to Museveni who had spent 40 years. He said he joined politics during the Constituent Assembly, while Museveni started politics in his childhood.

Epak said even if he wanted to retire at the end of the Seventh Parliament, his constituents would not allow him.
