Women only concerts are nothing ne, and so was the ekibeero ky’endongo y’abakyala (female power). What is new with women singing about their love for men, babies or about hating a co-woman? When they were not singing about love affairs, all Rebecca Jingo could shout about was fashion. And in all this, they sang with genuine emotion.
“Women are from venus, men from mars”, it is said. The difference showed at Pride theatre over the weekend. Instead of the usual bickering amongst artistes that has come to be associated with concerts, it was a “one-love” show for the women.
The audience learnt that Ugandan women have fine voices, very passionate, show their bodies and love their men. That was the reason Prossy Nalukuma thrilled the audience more when she danced than when she sang.
First timer, lady Aisha, shouted, but did not sing. Her body is her forte. For Stecia Mayanja, even the MC Leila Kalanzi, said her bottom was exclusive. In terms of real music, Angella Kalule remains a maverick. But to put a masculine side to the show was Julianna Kanyomozi. The only thorns in the audience were the few good men.
