DENIS Obua, head of regional soccer body CECAFA, has issued fresh warning to Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania football federations to pay their affiliation fees arrears to avoid being thrown out of the forthcoming Senior Challenge Cup in Kigali, Rwanda later this month.

“Although FUFA’s debts to CECAFA accumulated during my time, that does not give them any advantage. Their fate alongside Tanzania and Kenya will be decided in our pre-tournament meeting in Kigali,” Obua said on Wednesday.

FUFA is in affiliation fees arrears of about US $3200 (sh6m), Tanzania $3000 (sh5.5m) while Kenya has accumulated $10,000 (sh18.5m) in the past years.

“FUFA owed sh16m. I pleaded for them and it was reduced to sh6m, Tanzania paid $10,000 and they have a balance of $3000. Kenya’s debt is bigger because they also have problems in their federation,” Obua added.

Obua, whose FUFA leadership was disbanded by the government in February, said that the East African countries’ belated lists of players had been accepted but they face exclusion if they did not clear their debts before the championship kicks off.
