Kampala International University (KIU) is set for their annual Miss KIU beauty pageant. Interestingly, Miss KIU will happen on the same day as Miss MUK –– April 3, this Saturday.
By Sebidde Kiryowa Kampala International University (KIU) is set for their annual Miss KIU beauty pageant. Interestingly, Miss KIU will happen on the same day as Miss MUK –– April 3, this Saturday. Miss KIU will take place at Hotel Africana while Miss MUBS will take place in the Nile Conference hall, both at the same time. Charges are also the same (sh10,000 for regulars and sh50,000 for VIPS, with concessions to Ange Mystique for Miss KIU and Club Silk for Miss MUBS. The difference is that Miss KIU will crown both men and women while Miss MUBS will only crown a beauty queen. Eighteen girls and nine boys will take part in the KIU pageant, which will be held under the theme “Unity in diversity.†The winner for Miss KIU will take home a brand new Toyota Starlet. The first runner-up will win a one-year scholarship at KIU, a trip to Johannesburg, South Africa; a fully connected mobile phone; a 21-inch colour TV; a beauty hamper from Dark & Lovely; a year’s complementary membership to Ange Mystique and a weekend at Mbarara Regency Hotel. The second runner-up will win a weekend for two at the Regency Hotel, Mbarara; a fully connected mobile phone, a beauty hamper from Dark & Lovely and a dinner for two at Kampala Casino. Meanwhile, Mr KIU will win a return air ticket to Johannesburg and a 21-inch TV. The first runner-up will take home a fully connected mobile phone, a 21-inch TV and a weekend for two at the White Horse Regency Inn while the second runner-up stands to win a fully connected mobile phone and a weekend for two at the Kampala Regency Hotel, Bakuli. Miss KIU organisers promise to bring Kenyan artiste Nameless (formerly of the Ogopa DJ stable) featuring Wawo; Peter Miles, Michael Ross, Benon & Vamposs and Julianna Kanyomozi among others. Miss KIU will be sponsored by Sanyu FM; CBS FM; Kabindi Fashions; Tiner International School of Beauty; Dark & Lovely; Regency group of Hotels; K.K Beach, Ggaba; Antonio’s Oasis; Kampala Casino; Coca Cola; Nick Tushabe Investments and Beat FM.
