SOME scientists believe that the existence of life on earth was through evolution. They (scientists) have for a long time tirelessly worked, and continue to do so, to show how over 2.5 million animal species and close to 450,000 plant species currently surviving on earth, might have come into being.

To help us understand the concept of evolution, Alliance Francaise, in conjunction with the French Embassy, have organised a science exhibition codenamed “The Origin of Life.”

The exhibition at the Uganda Museum in Kamwokya, was opened by the French Ambassador, Bernard Thiant, on May 27 and will run through to July 10, 2004.
Florence Musinguzi, a senior education officer at the Ministry of Education and Sports hailed Alliance Francaise for its role in education.

The exhibition shows the theories of scientists which try to explain some of the processes behind evolution and the origin of life. The informative exhibition is a very educative platform for both secondary and primary school children as well as their teachers. Entrance is fee of charge. Teachers are encouraged to take their pupils.

There are 14 colourful boards and 11 interactive experiments and games to demonstrate the different methods of evolution. It also gives a deeper insight into the complex subject of life and how and when the earth was formed and what it was like before the first living microorganisms inhabited it 3.5 billion years ago.
