Pope endorses new Mityana bishop
POPE John Paul II has endorsed the proclamation of the Rt. Rev. Joseph Anthony Zziwa as the new Bishop of Kiyinda-Mityana Diocese.

POPE John Paul II has endorsed the proclamation of the Rt. Rev. Joseph Anthony Zziwa as the new Bishop of Kiyinda-Mityana Diocese.
Zziwa’s appointment follows the resignation of Bishop Joseph Mukwaya over health reasons.
The acting secretary general of the Uganda Episcopal Conference, the Rev. Fr. Augustine Lukenge, in a statement on Monday, said the Pope endorsed Zziwa on October 23 and ordination would take place on November 21.
“The Rt. Rev. Zziwa, until now has been the co-adjutor Bishop of Kiyinda-Mityana Diocese since March 2002,†he said.
Zziwa was born at Kasambya in Mubende district in February 1956.
He holds a Ph.D in sacred theology from Belgium.
Zziwa was an assistant parish priest in Belgium’s Limal parish from 1986 to 1990. He also served as assistant parish priest at Busuubizi parish in Kiyinda-Mityana Diocese.
