Energy state minister Daudi Migereko has advised Jinja district residents on better financial management to reduce poverty.
He said micro-finance institutions and projects had been initiated in the district but they collapsed due to poor handling of funds.
Migereko was on Friday addressing residents of Mafubira sub-county headquarters during a consultative meeting on the government’s White Paper.
Residents said shifting the powers of appointing chief administrative officers (CAOs) from the District Service Commission to the Public Service Commission would give CAOs more powers over the district councils.
Sub-county vice-chairperson Jalia Kito attended.
