Widen the horizon, local artistes

SIR— I commend local artistes for promoting our music,
creating employment
and providing entertainment
to people of all walks of life.
However, I see another side of the coin.
Though music is meant to entertain, the local musicians are focusing too much on
the beat, rhythm and rhyme and forgetting another side.
In this era when immorality, drug abuse, rape and indecent dressing are becoming the way of life vogue, I would urge
the young artistes to convey
a message against these vices in order to help this generation.
I would like to acknowledge some of the upcoming artistes like Jobless (Muzaale) of Jinja, Ali Saleh, P.Didy and Rock who are condemning corruption, the spread of AIDS and other ills in their songs. Their message is making an impact.
Let our artistes praise our beautiful flora and fauna, for example. There are many areas about life.
